Captain - Dash 8-300

Job description

Direct Entry Captain for Dash 8-300 Aerial Firefighting operations. Reports to the Director of Flight Operations. Rotational position: 8 weeks in the field, 8 weeks off. Operates at international bases supporting wildfire suppression missions domestically and internationally. Responsibilities: - Serve as Pilot-in-Command during wildfire suppression missions - Conduct aerial operations in support of wildfire suppression efforts across domestic and international locations - Maintain situational awareness in demanding environments (rugged terrain, rapidly changing conditions) - Brief crew on planned operations, routes, and operational concerns - Supervise and delegate responsibilities to crew members - Ensure operational control parameters are maintained throughout flights - Maintain on-time performance and accomplish flight objectives - Liaise with Dispatch, ATC, FSS, and customers - Ensure availability of maps, charts, and navigation equipment - Review, amend, and complete operational paperwork, flight plans, and manuals - Lead safety briefings and simulated emergency scenarios - Responsible for safety and security of crew, aircraft, and cargo - Proactively utilize Safety and Risk Management system - Comply with all company policies, air regulations, and SOPs - Maintain qualifications required to crew Dash 8 aircraft Requirements: - Valid CPL or ATPL - Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time - Minimum 500 hours PIC time - Minimum 250 hours on Dash 8 aircraft - Meet Transport Canada requirements to operate a Dash 8 aircraft - Current DHC8 type rating - Must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company - Clear Criminal Background Check - Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
