Job description

Helicopter Pilot (VFR) position based in Thermal, California, operating under the Mercy Air program with Air Methods. The pilot is responsible for ensuring aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. Must comply with FAR, AIM, General Operations Manual guidelines, and Air Methods policies and procedures. Responsibilities: - Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner - Complete pre-flight inspections and sign off Daily Flight Log - Final authority for aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo and equipment - Familiar with all aircraft and medical systems; ensure medical flight team is familiar with medical interior and systems - Complete required documentation - Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice - Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach Schedule: 7/7 schedule, 12-hour shifts Requirements: - 2,000 total flight hours with minimum 1,500 flight hours in category (rotor wing) - 1,000 hours PIC in category - 500 hours rotor wing turbine - 200 hours cross-country flight time (at least 50 hours at night) - 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours unaided can be substituted by 100 hours NVG time, but cannot be reduced below 50 hours unaided) - 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category - Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months - Weight not to exceed 250 lbs; must be less than 70 years old - Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft); ATP rating in category meets this requirement - Commercial single engine land required for single engine aircraft - First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required - Associate's degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
