Job description
The Captain will report to the Chief Pilot at Cayman Airways Express Ltd. The Captain appointed to the command of an aircraft for a flight or a series of flights is in sole charge of that aircraft and is responsible for the safety of the aircraft, its passengers and crew. The responsibility gives the Captain complete authority to take overriding and final decisions regarding any aspect of an operation which, in his opinion, affects his duty to conform to accepted safety standards. Key Responsibilities: - Ensure the safety and security of all crew members, passengers and cargo on board the aircraft when the doors are closed - Maintain familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and applicable aviation practices and procedures - Maintain familiarity and operational knowledge of the Company Operations Manuals - Report any act of unlawful interference to the Governor and to the designated local authority - Ensure all required documents, certificates and approvals are valid prior to and during the flight - Ensure crew members follow procedures for dealing with travelers with a suspected communicable disease - Responsible for the discipline, behavior and appearance of crew while on duty and away from base - Notify Base Operations of any delays or deviations from the planned route - Keep passengers informed in the event of a delayed departure - Act as Senior Official of the Company when away from base - Handle Ship's Funds and render flight expense accounts during Offline Operations - Submit Discretionary or Violation Reports to the Chief Pilot - Any other duties as required to ensure the safety and efficiency of the flight Requirements: - Hold a CAACI ATP without restrictions or acceptable for the SF34 as PIC - Minimum of 2,000 hours flight time of which 1,000 hours must have been on a multi-engine turbine aircraft and 500 hours on type (SF-340) - First class medical (FAA and CAACI) - ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or above - Ability to read and understand technical flight data manuals - GCSE "O" Level passes (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English and at least one Science subject - Commitment to high standards of professionalism, safety and customer service Special Conditions: - Probationary period of six (6) months - Must be able to obtain and hold both a USA Visa B1/B2 (Tourist/Business) and C1/D (Crew Visa) - Must be willing and able to work outside normal office hours and be on call periodically - Must successfully complete the Cayman Airways Express Pilot in Command course and route qualification
