Job description

Helicopter Pilot (VFR) position with Mercy Air / Air Methods based in Blythe, California. Operates Bell 407 under VFR program. Responsibilities: - Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner. - Complete pre-flight checks verifying airworthy condition via Daily Flight Log sign-off. - Final authority regarding aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment. - Familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft; ensure medical flight team is comfortable with medical interior and systems. - Complete required documentation. - Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice. - Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach. - Regular scheduled attendance (7/7 schedule – 12-hour shifts). Qualifications / Requirements: - Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred. - Weight not to exceed 250 lbs; must be under 70 years of age. - Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months. VFR Program Flight Hour Requirements: - 2,000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1,500 flight hours in category (rotor wing). - 1,000 hours PIC in category. - 500 hours rotor wing turbine. - 200 hours cross-country flight time (at least 50 hours at night). - 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours unaided may be substituted by 100 hours NVG, but cannot be reduced below 50 hours unaided). - 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category. Certificates / Licenses: - Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft; ATP rating meets this requirement). - Commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft. - First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required. Pay Scale (based on flight and EMS experience): - Step A: $82,900 | Step B: $86,216 | Step C: $89,665 | Step D: $93,251 - Salary Range with 130% ACCRA: $107,770 – $121,226 - Experience Stipend: Up to $12,000 - $40,000 Sign-On Bonus Internal Bidding Ends: 9/2/2025

Additional requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Weight not to exceed 250 pounds
• Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months
• Fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft; commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft
