Job description

Rotor Wing Pilot (EC135 IFR) based in Sayre, PA for Guthrie Air. Responsible for ensuring aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. Must comply with FAR, AIM, GOM guidelines, and Air Methods policies and procedures. Responsibilities: - Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner - Complete pre-flight checks and verify airworthiness via Daily Flight Log - Final authority for aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment - Familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft - Complete required documentation - Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice - Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, and community outreach Requirements: - IFR Program: 2,500 total flight hours with minimum 2,000 hours in category (helicopter) - 1,000 hours PIC in category - 500 hours cross country flight time - 100 hours night flight time - 100 hours flight in actual instrument conditions in category - Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months - Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft); ATP rating in category meets this requirement - Fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin engine aircraft; Commercial single engine land for single engine aircraft - First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required - Weight not to exceed 250 lbs; must be under 70 years old - Associate's degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred Compensation: $20,000 Annual Stipend, Off Duty Housing, $15,000 Sign-on Bonus Available

Additional requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months
  • Fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft; commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft
  • Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing (pre-employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, post-accident)
