Job description
The 705 Captain (Dash Captain) reports to the Assistant Chief Pilot and is responsible for transporting passengers safely under Transport Canada 705 operations. The role involves strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations Manual. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct flights in accordance with SOPs, CARs, AFM, and Company Operations Manual - Check weather, NOTAMs, and determine fuel and oil requirements - Calculate airplane weight and balance - Review, amend and accept the Operational Flight Plan (Type B 705 operation) - Complete airplane pre-flight inspections before each departure - Load, unload and secure cargo/freight as required - Complete flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher (Type B 705 operation) - Complete all post-flight duties including flight time recording and defect reporting - Continue to meet Transport Canada qualification standards Minimum Requirements: - High school diploma or GED equivalent - Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances - Category 1 Medical - Current Group 1 Instrument Rating - Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with 500 hours on DHC-8 preferred - Previous airline experience considered an asset - Fluent in English with effective verbal and listening comprehension - Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
