Job description

Air Methods is seeking a Helicopter Pilot (VFR) for the HCA Healthone AirLife program based in Thornton, Colorado. This is a temporary position operating the Bell 407 under VFR rules on a 7/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts. Responsibilities: - Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner - Complete pre-flight checks and verify airworthiness via Daily Flight Log - Final authority regarding aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment - Ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems at the operational area - Complete required documentation - Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice - Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, and community outreach Qualifications: - Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college/technical school and 2–5 years' related experience; Bachelor's degree preferred - Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months - Weight not to exceed 250 lbs; must be less than 70 years old VFR Program Requirements: - 2,000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1,500 flight hours in category (rotor wing) - 1,000 hours PIC in category - 500 hours of rotor wing turbine - 200 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 50 hours at night - 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours unaided can be substituted by 100 hours NVG, but not reduced below 50 hours unaided) - 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category Certificates/Licenses: - Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft; ATP in category meets this requirement) - Commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft - First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required
